I went home for lunch at it's definitely getting windier and more gusty, lots of debris/rubbish blowing around.

It was quite nice this morning, very calm.

The forecast from the Met Office for the commute home looks interesting ... wind speed 30, gusting to 52 mph againsterly. At least the visibility is going to be good.

It was indeed. I put faith in the forecast and wimped out, but it does not yet too bad to cycle in. Grrr. Better pick up before home time, I want tumbling cars and trees everywhere to justify not cycling in.

What's all the fuss about.

Just breezy in Manchester.

Heard a rumour that the TOB is cancelled today ?

Might be worse later ?
Just rode from longsight to Manchester - I had to fight and I mean fight to average 15.8mph - I normally get high 19''s on the same ride without as much effort ad that took

Will fly on the way home tho !

I've just popped into Manchester for a meeting. Fairly gusty south westerly now - will hopefully fly home, but it was rather buffeting on the A34 coming south - got blew off line a few times.

Lots of debris, and bloody conkers on the A34 near Birchfields Park.

Isn't there a cyclists dismount sign on the runcorn bridge? There certainly used to be, but that was about 15 years ago!

There is (Or was, see below), but it's also part of the NCN562, so I'm riding across it regardless. The other way to get to college is via Warrington, which is another 20 miles instead of 3! I'm not the only cyclist who ignores them, I met 4 cyclists this morning. It's only about 6 foot wide on the path so riding over it without a howling side wind is bad enough, but tell that to the roadies who blasted an inch from my drops at 20mph.

It probably got blown off.

It was there last week but it seems to have disappeared, so you might not be far wrong!

Bit lively in Preston. Only had one hairy moment when I almost got blown across the A6 crossing the Ribble. I'm sure it must be character building. At least the usual bus and taxi drivers have been giving me a wide berth.

Very breezy here today, seems to picking up strength as the day goes on. Day off for me today and not out on the bike.
Hoping it calms down significantly for the rest of the week, got a course to do that involves a lot of rope work and dangling from or climbing up some high structures!

Just did the school run and decided to walk rather than bike it, as I suspected my 5-year-old might need a push home.

I needn't have worried, they both bombed home and I had to run to keep up

Said younger child also got some playground kudos as her BMX has stunt pegs on lol

What a bizarre ride home: shifting to the big ring going uphill and then having to shift down to descend! I also had something ping off my glasses at high speed, so I'm rather relieved I decided to wear them today.

Re the Runcorn Bridge: after the last renovation they put up about 10 Cyclist Dismount signs. TBH on a day like today I'd rather be on the road part with the cars than riding next to the edge.

I did my usual 25-ish miles today, apart from a couple of places it was absolutely fine. It helps that my rides tend to be between 10-foot-tall hedges

Definitely picking up this afternoon, hardly a breeze at 4.30am when it would have been 'with me' coming home at 2pm was into a near 30mph headwind!!
Still glad I cycled in though, character building init?

Do you go to Widnes college in Cronton? I went there!
