South African per chance?

No it's some Italian wine with very little information on the label. Itallian guy gave me it.

It's lovely but hard work. I've had 2 glasses and when I was in the toilet there it looked like I'd ate a packet of blackjacks.

Did you let it breath at all?

I had some wine that was a bit off...it was meant to have a 'cheeky bouquet', but this stuff was bordering on insolent.

Reminds me a of full bodied organic french red that I bought in some (short lived) wine shop in Brighton.

Last time saw something as "earthy" as it tasted - it had a spade in it.

It didn't improve overnight either - so went down the sink

But you were amused by it's presumption?
"It's only a naive domestic Burgundy.."

Greedo, if that was a good bottle you should have left it for a couple of years before drinking it; if it wasn't, you shouldn't have bought it.

Now that you have opened it, you might improve it a bit with lots of air. Give it a good shake in a roomy decanter, then again half an hour later.
