Have you been skiing?

Yes, many a time. Hence my observation

They will know about coldness but not so much wet. Dealing with fluffy snow doesn’t need the same level of waterproofing as rain.

How wet they get will depend somewhat on your ability to stay up right on your skis. Some folks hands will spend more time in the snow than out of it.⛷🥶

I cringe when I see mothers out pushing their toddlers in prams in winter months, where the mothers have gloves on, but he little ones, sat in the pram/buggy, not generating body heat and hands, with no gloves on, red-raw, suffering fromt he cold and wind-chill.

Picked up some Solaris RBS Windgrip gloves in November. Lightweight but are definately windproof. Toasty and cheap - currently £7 off the Polaris ebay store.

3-4° this morning and a bit of rain around. Skytec Argon thermal work gloves absolutely excellent. Comfortable, warm, waterproof and pretty dextrous. Happy using them down to zero.

Have got the Galibier deep winter ones too but often choose these as they are a bit less bulky. An absolute bargain for 8 quid.

Mitts are warmer for the same weight. A pile lining or similar works best for me.

Old ski mitts and silk gloves work well. Especially if you can get a hand warmer in there too - for the days I won't be out.
I still have some early goretex over mittens in cammo. But I don't go out in that sort of weather any more. Certainly not on my bike.
