Currently sat watching the curling while enjoying the first of many :cuppa: to see me through to the wee small hours.
Sounds like a plan, enjoy.

I saw a bit of the snowboarding and ice hockey yesterday. While I do not get it entirely, I appreciate how many hours these people must put into their training to reach a level where they can compete in the Olympics. I wish I had that amount of dedication . I’m sure I shall be watching more of the events.

I did see an interview with Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards and didn’t recognise him without his glasses.

Watched a bit of women's ice hockey, Canada against Olympic Athletes of Russia (huh?). Canada hammered them but I had to suppress a smirk when the commentator said a Canadian player had been banging on the Russian goalkeeper's back doors for ages before finally squeezing one in.

I enjoyed watching that too, kept wondering if they were all slightly mad to go down at those speeds or just so sure of what they are capable of? Anyway, I was pleased for the guy that won it, don't care what country wins what, just happy for every medal winner when it all goes right for them after all that practise.

Just switched the figure skating on to show the two year old and she is suitably entranced. The Italian pair were incredible.

It is all a bit fully clothed men throwing half naked women around, which is a bit weird for a supposed sporting event, but still fantastic to watch.

Think it's gotta be a mix of the two - they're hitting 80+ mph on the second half of the track. Think I'd still prefer trying skeleton bob as at least you can see where you're going.

Got hooked on the elegance mixed with pain, of the long track speed skating this morning, before I got my act together and went for a ride in the wind, rain and hail. Then the conclusion of the biathlon when having a brew and toast after said ride.

My Bolletta (now 16) has skated competitively, although she now does Synchro skating, which has tried and failed to get into the Olympics a couple of times.

I’ve got some sympathy with @Rich p’s issues with sports that need some form of subjective marking, even though you’d have to include boxing in the mix. But like a lot of sports, the telly really doesn’t give an impression of how fast or spectacular figure skating can be at the top level. The British champion of a year or two back, Dani Harrison, used to skate at the Basingstoke rink and watching her full competition routine was spellbinding. Given that she generally places nowhere in European competitions, the top top skaters must be awesome.

An event that has the possibility of real unintended pratfalls on zero grip surfaces can't be all bad.
As Paul Simon sang - slip, slide and away....
