Un rouleur infatigable
I’ve tried to persuade my wife to let me grow a Hercule Poirot moustache (David Suchet, not Albert Finney or Peter Ustinov; and definitely not Kenneth Branagh). My wife agreed with the proviso that we divorce. So I am ‘tache-less.

As usual, ups and downs, joy and heartbreak, just like life.
Short track is mad, I would like to chat with some of the judges after a few gins.
Loving loads of it. Getting up tomorrow at 4.30 to watch the womens hockey final.

I'll be settling down to the curling play-off in a couple of hours.

Enjoyed the long track speed skating today - 3000m pursuit. Same as on a velodrome, but sans bikes...

It does seem like the judges have something against her, I'd be interested to see the angles they are using to make their decisions because from the TV shots we are shown I don't see that she's doing anything different to the other skaters! It's great fun to watch but the lack of information about decisions is very frustrating.
I like that blonde woman judge with the ponytail though :-)

Love the fact that Elise's OH managed to bag a gold.

He's very easy on the eye... AND he has a brother...

Wow, that was exhausting. Superb skills, fast, brilliant skating, tension and drama, from start to finish. And someone said to me shortly after, it's only game. Tell that to all the women who were crying on the ice at the end - tears of joy on one hand and tears of heartbreak on the other.

If the mens final is half as good (which I tentatively doubt), we are in for a treat.

And for those of you who enjoy speed skating, I would recommend the Mass Start races today.

Seeing the powerful sculptured quads combined with the graceful speed and athleticism around the oval for 6.4k. But with tactics, not just 2 guys going against the clock, as all competitors start together.
It is a wee bit like track cycling points race but not really! A wonderful spectacle.

Canada ended up with zero (same gender teams) curling medals for the first time since re-introduced in 1994. Having never previously one a single medal in the luge, they ended up with more luge than curling medals! The recent World Championships saw normal service resumed. Men won silver (Scotland won a highly creditable bronze) and women won gold.

And who came up with the idea of holding curling world champs in the middle of the Nevada desert? The only sign of ice previously seen in Las Vegas has been in cocktails!

And in other news, Kaetlyn Osmond, bronze medal winner in figure skating, won gold at the recent world championships. Astonishing fortitude considering she broke her leg requiring major surgery to fix and then re-learn to skate at the top level less than 4 years ago. Not bad for a 22 year old.
