There is a cross country ski-ing club that meet up at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit reguarly.

I was driving behind a guy last week who was on skis with wheels and had long poles doing cross country skiing on the main roads.
Due to the way he was skiing he was much harder to overtake than a bicycle. And I was far more worried about running him over.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
There was an episode on the GCN YouTube channel looking at what to wear while riding in winter and the way of dressing that was most effective was warm bib tights, good overshoes and gloves, arm warmers under a thermal jacket and no base layer. So your extremities are warm but your core is able to shed heat thats generated from cycling.

I have bad reynauds and have to take medication for it , the article doesnt tell me anything i didnt already know

It's not a winter sport and not traditionally manly, but oddly, if you want physical demanding but effortless, then synchronised swimming.

People may laugh, but to do all that whilst making it look like you are just idly standing on the bottom of the pool, when you are actually anything but, requires a level of fitness most will never have. Just leaping out of the water like that alone... You try it next time you are at the pool! 😆

If you see what they do under the water, it's quite interesting.
It falls under the category of one of those sports that I can appreciate the physical and technical demands but really don't enjoy watching or want to try (I'm also not a very strong swimmer).

Get yourself over to the Netherlands - there you can learn to speed skate.

As a cyclist you are halfway there; cyclists tend to have big lungs, strong legs and glutes - same as speed skaters. All you need to learn is technique!

Ask the great Clara Hughes (CA) she won multiple Olympic medals in both sports.

I'm probably a bit old now and more of a runner than a cyclist these days. I'm not too bad on skates providing I'm just going around forwards in circles.

Ice dancing. A shame that our pair made a technical error and slipped down the order, but was I alone in thinking how, well, naff and unsophisticated their routine looked against their competition (sorry Scots!)

Yep, that's why I fancy trying it (but not short track as that seems to come down to how lucky you are that some other nupty doesn't take you out).

What, this? 🤣:

I wonder why GB are good at skeleton but not good at luge?
They can’t be that different can they?
Maybe it’s the seated push off that needs technique?

No separate feed starting 10 mins later. You haven’t paused a live feed, you are watching it on a feed started 10 mins later. That not live is it? Not that any of this can be policed.

It's still a live stream. Live refers to receiving the stream as it is broadcast rather than watching the events as they happen.

It's breaking the law but that's only relevant if you are caught.

Very different steering technique as well, and it probably depends a lot on the coaches - and skeleton is helped to gain competitors by the fact Britain has had success previously (although mainly from the women).
