Winter storage

I currently keep my bike in the kitchen due to having nowhere secure or dry enough outside.

I'm not really using it at the moment and could probably count on one hand the number of times I'll use it in December/January (weather, darkness, hectic at at work etc etc)

To add to the complications, I'm getting a puppy on Saturday! The kitchen will be her space and I'm a bit worried about her chewing my bike. What with that and the lack of use over winter, I was thinking about putting it up the loft.

Is this ok? Should I cover it in plastic? Or just wipe the dust off it again when it com s back out in February?

Id be tempted to use a dust sheet rather than plastic as it wont condensate . Anything would be better than having your bar tape and saddle covered in that fine soot that lurks in lofts .

I keep two bikes outdoors under a heavy duty plastic cover; they've got a basic cover on and then a tarpaulin-type trailer cover. It's an area that is protected naturally though.

I'm getting an Asgard store for mine, get 3 out of lounge and obr out of shed! The concrete base is down

I got rid of the bed in the spare room and keep my bikes in there. Not only are they kept in a temperature controlled environment, but also has the added bonus of a great excuse of why any relatives can't come and stay.

I used to strip my Enigma at the end of the season and store it all in the loft. Rebuilt it in the Spring. It was just covered with an old sheet and was perfectly fine. Now it's ridden all year, I just change the wheels for Winter.

I have two bikes in the loft. A 1960s house and never covered them and had no problems. Apart from getting the bastards up there single handed using a rope round the beam
