Hi,
One constant annoyance with my car are the wiper blades.
For one they sweep to the left leaving the corner of disappointment on the drivers side.
The car is French and the wipe pattern is designed purely for the continental countries.
When I first bought the car it had those flat blades type wiper blades (Bosch) and they would judder and skip like crazy driving me up the wall whenever it rained ( excuse the pun)
I quickly replaced them with the old style type (Bosch again) and they where a little better.
After a year's use though these things are now driving me around the bend (another bad pun) with the juddering and noise, and the visibility is not the best any more.
Both sets of blades where of the standard rubber type and was thinking of replacing them with some silicone types.
As with everything nowadays the price of things have gone through the roof (Halfords especially)
Has anybody got any experience with silicone type blades.
Are they better.
I thought I would ask before I spend my hard earned cash.
All the very best
Johnny.

Never heard of them before,
Just done a quick Google and noticed they sell them at Demon Tweaks ( not a million miles from me)
Are they any good.
It rain's a lot in Wales so I would definitely get my moneys worth lol.

Great timing ! Three days ago it was drizzling and my wiper blades were juddering so I went online and searched for replacements. I cannot offer you an opinion on silicone blades, I have just ordered Bosch blades.
My belief, and I may be wrong, is that when wiper blades are relatively new the rubber is flexible and therefore they “flip” according to the direction of travel. As they age the rubber stiffens and consequently causes judder.
Anyway, my order should be delivered tomorrow ( Friday 28th ). Price wise, I found two blades at a very reasonable price from this company https://www.wiperblades.co.uk/?syclid=2907cbef-34f6-4bf8-9e7c-775fd55abc5b

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
I misread the title of this as "Wiper blades, any superstitions?"

I'm not particularly superstitious so I don't have any. But if anyone does have any wipers blade related superstitions, feel free to share them.

Try your local Aldi for wipers. When they’re fresh in stock they’re £3.99 for any size. On the final sale week they go down to £1.99 and that’s when I stock up.

They‘re excellent, and they’re not the old type but the modern flat blades.

Same goes for Shimano chains !!! Watch out. Think we've the Aerotwin on both our cars - certainly MrsF. Used to use Valeo wipers on my old Primera as they were OEM and cheaper from the dealer than anywhere else !

Here we go ...... Not entirely sure it's classed as a superstition. I arrived at a new customer's house a few years ago and noticed two cars in the driveway, both with the wiper blades angled off the screen. I mentioned this, as I thought the owner may have forgotten to put them back onto the screen after cleaning the cars. He said "it's so the blades don't get damaged". Whenever I've visited him over the years, the blades have always been off the screen. I suspect it makes no difference, and possibly wears the arm excessively? I did see a report saying drivers of some VW cars have had broken screens because the arms have very strong springs and when cleaning the car, if the wipers are left off the screen they can spring back violently and 'oh dear - broken screen'

Bosch aerotwin , and clean and degrease your screen thoroughly before installation.

A lot of counterfeit Bosch stuff about so avoid Ebay and amazon. Reputable sellers only, or bricks and mortar motor factors.

On my kit car (Fiesta parts) I had good (original multi-hinged) blades. Then were good quality and only a year old. We bought a new Grande Punto and it had the single blade type: I was very impressed, so much so that I sourced some Bosch aerotwin for the kit car and it was like having new eyes!
