I’d also endorse the Sennheiser phones. If you haven’t tried them electrostatic phones sound amazing, don’t know if you can get some within your budget.

I really want to hear some of those, but out of my budget range and the need for an appropriate amp/ power supply puts them even further out of reach

Yet another vote for a pair of Sennheisers. I have a pair of PX 100s which were an absolute bargain more than a decade ago. I also have a pair of KEF M500s (£180 best price) which are unsurprisingly more comfortable, sound better....but it's marginal gains.

How about telling us why, just in case ... :okay:
Like all of Bose's products overpriced and a bit 'tacky', don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of their speakers but in the right environment, I certainly wouldn't want a set in my house unless I was having a party, very dynamic with oodles of Bass and 'Top End' but no midrange (even positioned correctly)
and very 'tiring' to listen to.

Although wireless, they can be used wired as well. Sound quality is excellent. Having bought one pair, I had to order a second as Mrs R wanted her own. The alleged original price is not as high as claimed - more like £90 to £100 - and the noise cancelling isn't that great but it does get rid of all the creaks and other noises you get with headphones when you move.

Here for rides.
What pads do those have? - they usually come with S-Cush but I find the L-Cush better. You can get really good Chinese L-Cushes for a few quid on ebay.
The on ear ones, not the over ear ones.

And apparently I sing too loud with them on.
