when we told her she hadn't got in, she just shrugged gallicly and said "oh well". to be honest, we'd planned the appeal on the basis of her getting offered a shoot school. she wasn't, but we thought we may as well have a go at getting the 'best' school, seeing as her friends' parents were hell bent on getting in. her worry was that they would get in and she wouldn't, so she's happy going to a decent school with her best friends.
