I got to :bicycle: today.:hyper:

Its particularly significant due to the fact I havent had a decent ride-out in about 6 weeks. Its been even longer since I rode my CR1. The weather around where I live has just been persistently :rain: and I will not ride in the rain as its extremely unpleasant. My ride today was very windy but this didnt spoil it one bit. Just glad it was dry as I feel I really needed to get out. I was starting to rot!

Any of you fellas found it impossible to get a decent ride lately owing to the mild but abysmal weather? I had not even a single commute to work on the bicycle in weeks either.:banghead:

The rain doesn't bother me at all. Only time the weather has stopped me cycling was up Stelvio Pass where a small avalanche had blocked the road off.

What's so bad about the rain? Living in the UK I'd of thought most people get used to it?

I had my first ride today for at least a month too.
I share your pain re cycling in rain; I would rather stick hot needles in my eyes. It turns a pleasurable experience into one of the most horrible pastimes available. I cannot stand it. I just don't like rain in general, which is unfortunate given that it rains constantly in this area. Seriously; I would be interested to find out how many DRY days we have had in 2015 - it can't be many. An absolute washout of a year.

Just the feeling of being wet which often coincides with being freezin. Wearing wet clothes, wet shoes etc. Just horrible, particularly horrible when rainwater finds its way to my reproductive anatomy. Plus riding on wet roads increases maintenance requirements.

I also hate the rain; I just find it miserable (be that walking, riding or driving). As I mostly use country lanes, cleaning mud and animal output from the bike afterwards isn't top of my list when I'm cold and wet myself.

This must be the wettest year I can recall.:rain: Apart from a decent October:sun: it hasn't really stopped raining at all. :rain:I did manage to clock up a 100 miles or so over Christmas when weather conditions changed from absolutely torrential to merely wet and I was hoping to aim for a 50 miler today but it was a complete washout. I was out in the car earlier and the amount of surface water is ridiculous and the rain was so heavy I could barely see where I was going. I would not like to have been cycling in it as it was bad enough trying to drive.

Just buy a decent waterproof jacket and man up.
There is no such thing; the water WILL find its way in eventually. Down your neck or wherever. That also applies to heavy duty goretex motorbike jackets. In 33 years of motorcycling I have yet to find a truly waterproof jacket. If manufacturers of motorcycle jackets cannot manage it when weight is not an issue, then I don't hold out much hope for cycling jackets.

there is no need to be cold when it rains with the right gear but it can need a little experimentation to get comfortable. living in Wales and only riding on dry days must limit your riding days enormously, As Flick says man up or move to California as for the comment about increased maintenance that is a poor excuse.

Dunno about the fellas ^_^ I have no problem riding or walking in the rain.
Anyway, it is so mild for December, a bit of water does not harm you.

True.
Last December I did lots of cycling, all of it commuting. It was also much colder and I rarely cycled in temps much above freezing (commute was early hours of morning). I found that after a few miles that the lower temperature doesnt make a difference, just use more layers. It also encourages you to push harder just so you can warm up a bit quicker. But being wet.........I will wimp it and just take the motorcycle.
