This bike comes with a 300 tooth chainring, pretty impressive!

It's intended for those who have stupidly large quads.

you'd think that ring would cost the £299 asking price alone

impressive spec

Talking of silly gearing, do they still do those roller speed record competitions? I seem to recall specially made bikes with 2 chains that had 400" gears or summat stoopid like that.

I think the bike that Dave LeGrys used to break the world roller record had double-reduction gearing - otherwise the chainrings would have hit the ground, likewise the one that was used by John Howard to break the absolute speed record that was towed behind a car to about 70mph, because you physically couldn't accommodate the gear range to reach 152mph from a standing start.

That's the fella. I remember seeing DLG being towed behind a faired Rover SD1 and doing about 130mph on the M forty something back in the eighties. I think the roller racing now has to be done on standard bikes and the record was done by some German (?) fella who was pedalling at about 250rpm!

Wasn't it with the DLG record attempt they were hampered by the fact that the Rover just couldn't go fast enough with the fairing on the back? I suppose, seeing as it was a 1980's Rover they were lucky that it went anywhere at all!
