I've noticed a lot of worms on the roads (lanes) ..anyone else or is this just a normal thing I've just not noticed before.

Don't know if someone told me this or I read it or I might even be making it up, but I thought it sometimes happens when the ground is very waterlogged as they can drown so they come onto better surfaces to escape from it???

yes I can understand that ...my lawn is coverd in worm casts probably for the same reason.

Got me curious enough to google and it seems they don't drown that easily and it may also be to do with coming to the surface for mating purposes when it is moist and they won't dry out. Now see what you have started. Lol

As you know chickens love worms and pasta . Boil them up some spaghetti , they go mad for it

And they are great for clearing land as well, of EVRYTHING.

we have concrete left, but had no idea that chickens were so good at clearing the ground. We have now fenced a large area for them to scratch around in, but i dont think It will be long before that area Is completely barren as well.

Thank god for that, I saw the thread title and thought you had worms. Very grim indeed and I don't think chickens would eat them unless.....no I won't go there.
