Monday 19th October 1987, with the previous privatisations being cash in the bank, I confidently stuff a decent wedge of my student grant into an envelope to purchase some BP shares.

Got back to my room, turned on the radio: Black Monday. Eventually turned a profit a few years later.

£300 for a Rover 200, another £75 for a replacement windscreen after getting a nasty chip on the way home. Five days later it was on a scrappies trailer after the head gasket blew.

That kinda thing hurts...

Technically the ex wife, she brought a skoda estelle 120L for £2300 new scrapped it after 18 months after 3 seized engines. My other mistake other than the ex was swapping my mini clubman estate for a austin allagro, 1st trip blew the engine, 2nd trip rear Stub axle sheared going up the M1. So ended up with a 3 wheeler 🤭.
