There are limitations on where you can fly them, but nothing to stop you doing it on your own.
One local to myself, www.modelshopleeds.co.uk, Flight Centre, Crossgates, Leeds.

I may buy a small kit as a one off and try it sometime (just not at moment as other drains on finances some bike related, some not) but I know myself I could easily become obsessed and addicted..............

Can I ask what kit did you start with?

I have my boy building the occasional kit robot, and I'm just doing a course on drone navigation before we step up the game there. Rocketry is something I'd like to do with him too.

I think the club has clearance up to 4000 ft..... it's right between 2 airports..... East Mids and Birmingham......

It certainly was good fun to watch they let the 2 young-uns press the launch button......and the mid size (about 2 foot) thing was fab so the big one pictured would have been incredible........

I can envisage attaching a Garmin Edge (to record the flight profile) and a GoPro. The video would definitely be worth watching!

One of the rockets had a small L.C.D altimeter fitted that charged by usb...... but he had forgot to charge it so didn't use it today
