Erin's Blog has become essential and regular reading for me now. It never fails to amuse. It's like a Private Eye parody. Here is a gem from Aug 20th:
“Time for a shocking confession: I've never watched Easy Rider. Isn't that embarrassing? I think I might even have lied about it before, for fear that a proper biker chick would have the DVD on her shelves at home and know the script off by heart.”
You have many camps in the biking fraternity
Most do give a nod when they pass others:-
Scoots & 125s - sometimes, if they are aspirational to proper bikes
Trail riders - don't seem to regard themselves as bikers (rarely seen on the open road)
BMW - very rarely nod, fairly aloof and snobbish (look for the IAM sticker)
Harley - mostly Born again and terrified of high performance machinery (do nod mostly though)
Sports bike riders - vary in ability enormously - look for unmarked knee sliders as a clue to experience and lack of prowess, some very capable riders out there who hone their skills on the track

Honda VFR riders - enormously egotistical, try to a part of the gang and will nod occasionally. Think they are riding sports bikes and will happily push very hard on the roads regardless of any others around them - Only seen on the track in the novice groups getting in the way of they sports bike riders as they wobble into the corners at low speeds. No shortage of heroics though as they try and hussle such large and lardy touring machines through the corners (not to be confused with real bikers)
