tried a standard hi viz once and it was to hot and flappy.

A wee problem though with high viz vests: it's summer now, even on late shift for me it's hardly so dark to warrant a high viz. In the winter you really need a high viz warm jacket, at least shower proof in the bargain.
The helmet is cool, also for the summer. For the winter I wear a kind of skateboard one, less holes for the rain to get in.
