On a previous thread I asked for (and got) some recommendations as my son wanted to get me a good malt whisky.
I don't like peaty or smokey types too much..........more smooth with maybe a sweet finish.
I ended up choosing...........Glemorangie Quinta Ruban.
As I say.........WOW!!!
So smooth but with some kick.
Plenty of different flavours coming through
Taste seems to really linger after "swallowing"........so a small(ish) glass lasted a long time.
I know that what makes a "good whisky" is very personal but I do recommend this one.^_^:addict:

Humph. I've twice bought my dad a £50 bottle of Scotch and neither time did I get to try it. If it happens again I'll tell him I hope I was adopted!

Indeed it is a good one, a port finish and very approachable. I've had a few bottles of it over the years although they were litre bottles and at at under £30 with a bit of staff discount....

The gelnmorangie cellar 13 if you can ever find it is well worth a look at too, incredibly elegant to drink, don't see it often nowadays and I suspect a tad more expensive by now.

The sherry cask finish, I think it was called Lasanta iirc, well you can keep that one, really didn't like that offering.

Where's the whisky thread..?

It is indeed a fantastic whisky, so much so I've run out.

........sure, it's OK, but for normal everyday riding I just have some Famous Grouse in my bidon.
You are missing the point.
That is for my every day riding.
For normal drinking I will have something special

Am not a whisky drinker, but i did try the Glemorangie a few weeks ago, My father inlaw was chatting in the pub, when he mentioned the cheap scotch burns his throat. i said to him why are you drinking it then, his reply was it's what i am used to. Anyway i went to the bar and asked for a good whisky and it was the Glemorangie they gave me, could not resist a little sip, Very smooth, he loved it but he is a bit of a tight git so he is back on the cheap stuff, Some people.
