Was in a shop in Chester (thebikefactory) and after selecting a cycling shirt - I was looking 'round the shop and noticed a white/red/black Pinarrello with the new Shimano Di2 stuff on it and got talking to a sales bloke who answered some questions and the likes..I acutally asked him if it was possible to get a bike with it on cheaper than the bike which was £8990 - I think.

He then said have you seen it working and went thru' the gears on the stand...: very crisp and the front deraileur, if for example you're in top (big front-small back) and then go up the block at the back...the front deraileur cage adjusts it's self to not rub on the cage - so thats pretty smart really !

I'd obviously have liked to have had a go on it, but discretion got the better of me and I didnt want to go there...

One thing I dont like about it is that there are 3 levers as part of the STi unit 2 behind the main brake lever, these being the gear levers, which doesnt move sideways now...that isn't going to be good for thick gloves at all !!!!!!!!! As the lever right behind the brake lever is quite narrow/small.

From what I could see though the shifts are very crisp and simply like a well oiled cable set-up BUT as for on-the-bike-performance: it may well be different !

Anyone else tried this....

If i spend 8990 on a bike, i dont think ill be taking it out when ill need to have thick gloves on

Wouldn't like to bike past Radway Green with that electronic stuff - you don't know what could happen!

Some of the reviews say it would be tricky to operate with gloves........but as Joe says - don't think I'd be using it in those conditions.....

Focus do a Di2 bike for under £5k.
