Really enjoyed the running game, the lack of ping pong and the lack of incessant whistle blasts. Just a free flowing entertaining match for a change!

The Barbarians. A wonderful one-off, unique to the world of Rugby Union. Drawing on players from many nations, the team is thrown together to take on visiting national sides, in a spirit of 'play up, play up, and play the game!' They play for the joy of the game, and they play to win. Mostly they lose, but with panache. On Saturday, a team combining South Africans and Welsh, Italians and Aussies (and even one New Zealander) beat the All Blacks (albeit very much the All Blacks B team).

Sorry to be cynical, but this was just an exercise for the RFU to make money out of the touring Oz, SA and NZ teams. NZ receive £1m for this game and played their second string team. The Barbarians, far from representing players from many nations had a heavy representation from Australia and South Africa. Very few non SH players invited to play for the Baa Baas or very few took up the invite. It's not what it was and the cost per ticket doesn't represent good VFM in my opinion.
