Rejoice, we're through the worst of it!

(Some pedant wil come along now and point out that actually the evenings or the mornings - can't be bothered to check - have already been getting lighter for some days...)

Weather seems nice so as soon as it gets light I'm off for a quick solistice ride round my local training circuit before the rest of the family surfaces.

Its roughly 2 Months since we put the clocks back, but its roughly 3 months before they go forward, why is that ?

Because the period we spend on GMT rather than BST is 5 months. The transition to BST approximately coincides with the vernal equinox (March 20/21) but the transition to GMT is a month late compared to the autumnal equinox (September 22/23)

Thanks for the info, a month earlier putting the clocks forward would seem more logical to me, giving the approx same sunrise times as October (when we put the clocks back) & lighter evenings.

Calm down, tomorrow is only 2 seconds longer!! (Under my particular cloud, other clouds are available.)
Darkest mornings are the 28th and 29th, same sunrise time to the nearest second according to this site which calculates times to the nearest second for any given location.
