I'm going to go to casualty tomorrow (bit late now and I'm tired so gonna get some kip). My sister is going with me (I forgot everything I wanted to say in the docs surgery so she can remind me if I forget anything).

Does anyone know if my gerbil needs to see a vet, with my bit finger getting infected, just wondered cos she could have an illness, although she seems fine and it's about a week after the bite? But it is quite a deep wound.

I very much doubt that the gerbil will need to see a vet. The infection on your finger is from (natural) bacteria on the gerbil's teeth or in its mouth, it usually swells up and takes about a week to ten day to go down. Don't forget, when the gerbil bit you it created an open wound for bacteria to enter. The hospital might give you anti biotics depending how bad the infection is.

It turns out that the dose of antibitics is fine, I was just reading the leaflet and reading information wrong online for some reason!, so I've just got to keep on them until the course is finished. And the head injury it's nothing serious, minor concussion (although I didn't actually notice, I had cut my head! Don't know how I could miss something like that! It's not a massive cut though).

I have every right to take my pets to a vet if I deem it neccessary. It's not costing YOU anything, it's me that would be out of pocket, so why worry? Okay, gerbils aren't exactly dogs, but a gerbil suffering is still an animal suffering.

The cut and concussion are not directly connected.
Concussion can occur without any outward injury. Concussion (feel free to correct me anyone...cos i could be talking out of my back passage) is where the brain gets injured, usually by being rattled inside the skull.

Seriously get it checked and don't be shy to push a bit and relate all possible symptoms, no matter how insignificant they may seem.
