Er... no he's not. Not even close. Sensor performance tests (DXO mark) come up with a figure of 11.7 stops of range for the Canon 5D3 - and that is without mucking about with silly HDR stuff.

See review here: http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Pu...s/Canon-5D-Mark-III-Review/Sensor-performance

I might add that DXO is no great booster of Canon products either and their review indeed criticises Canon for not having made better advances in the area of dynamic range.

I don't know where you get your data from (5-6 stops of light, max!?!?!?), nor do I particularly care, but you're miles off base.

Are you American?

Prepare yourselves for a shock ...

A Decision Was Made!

I'm now the rather nervous owner of a Panasonic Lumix G5. Played around with a Nikon D3100, a Sony NEX-6 and some others but the G5 just felt right. Immediately fell in love with the view finder and was surprised to discover that I much preferred the chunkiness of it in my hand compared to the smaller CSCs, as well as the weight difference compared to the DSLR.

Screw specs, ratings and reviews - I tried, I liked, I bought. And it was on offer. And comes with an extra lens, though I've got to send off to Panasonic for it.

The battery is currently charging and I'm trying to ignore all "what I have I just done?" thoughts.

Thanks everyone, your input was really helpful.

I tried to take some test photos of the dog but every time I turned the camera in her direction, she bounded over for cuddles and a fuss. A telephoto lens is now on the To Buy list.
