I went up by train on Friday evening (partner drove up Thursday with camping gear) and got back late last night. What a great time we had. We stayed in Addingham, The tour went through on both days, so saw it twice. I was amazed at how many people turned out on bikes to find a spot on the side of the road and watch. A real carnival and great atmosphere, everyone had gone to so much effort.
We camped on a local golf course, the club house had been turned over to campers and visitors, and we had a total sports fest weekend, footie, cycling, tennis. we were able to watch all of it on their two big TVs. (when we came back in from watching it whizz past)
Ate lots of food, drank lots of beer, and was made to feel really welcome. When it came to Kent in 2007 I don't remember it making such an enormous impact as it did on Yorkshire this weekend. Maybe because the passion for cycling has grown so much over the last few years, or maybe I didn't notice then as I wasn't cycling mad then
Anyway, we 'ad a reet good time, thanks Yorkshire
