Here for rides.
What has Yorkshire done to Cav? I fear he's "fooked" as they might have it.

One of the best days of my life today. A truly memorable one. We set off early and rode up from Cracoe to Buckden, traffic-free roads (!) rode up to the top of the first big climb of the day and witnessed a unique British capacity to entertain itself. A kid (there were lots over the several hours we were there) rode up the steepening climb, s/he was treated like they were the solo breakaway and roared to the top! It was truly gratifying to see. It got a bit ropey with the spontaneous Mexican wave and I (accurately) predicted it wouldn't be long before 'Oggy-oggy-oggy' broke out but it was a really good, life-affirming thing to see. OK, it was Yorkshire but nothing's perfect and today pretty nearly was. And tomorrow we've got more of it when I can ride from my house to a section we've identified (probably with about 50,000 others) as having great spectator potential.

I can't wait for this next year!

Fantastic day today here in Addingham, just supping a pint of Landlord and anticipating a repeat tomorrow when the race comes through the village a second time.
I knew absolutely nothing about Addingham before I discovered that what was before today an 'insignificant' little town has the mighty Tour de France go through it ON TWO CONSECUTIVE DAYS!!! Incredible! Beat that, London!

It's a bit more complicated than that...
See that graffiti on the route's tarmac as they came out of Haworth?

'Where is Wiggo?'
Later on, after a series of names and encouragements - "Wet Paint".

I have had an awesome weekend!
Got up early yesterday and cycled to Otley. It was surreal to come in to the town along the closed roads of the route and have people cheering me on! Watched the race in Otley and then cycled through to Harrogate. I have done a few sportives in the past and even then, I have never seen so many cyclists. And hardly any cars! We watched the finish on the huge screens in the fan park in Harrogate having made the decision that there were too many people to try to get race side (although my son managed it!) Incredible atmosphere.
Today, I walked up into Knaresborough and watched it again on the high street. Got a much better view as the riders were closer. Felt the draught as they zoomed past. Spent the rest of the day watching the race on the big screen at Knaresborough Castle. Not as big a screen as Saturday but a much more intimate atmosphere - and great food stalls.
The weather has been perfect and I will remember this weekend for a long time to come.

And here's the after tour party, still going strong six hours after the tour went by. It has to be said that many of the revellers seemed to have been partaking of the many excellent real ales in the nearby pubs, and whenever a local cyclists happened to go by a massive cheer went up.

We are still giggling about the McCains frites float, which broke down right in front of us just outside Addingham, causing the Gendarmes and several idiots in flouro jobsworth jackets to run around like headless chickens until they could get it off the road.

....and the slogan written on the side of the McCain support van?

"Supporters des bons moments!"

I had a cracking day on Saturday, I rode down from Saltaire to Shipley and passed many a cyclist and walker going to watch.
Picked up the route in
Otley and rode to Ilkley stopping just after the church to watch.

Lots of people cheering and waving me on. It was a fantastic atmosphere enhanced by some unexpected free beer (card machine broke). I later found out I had managed to get on ITV's coverage when the helicopter panned past as I watched the replay on TV before tuning into the buttertubs climb (amazing crowds!!)

The only mar to the day was some over zealous marshals making us walk between crossings (100mtrs) on the pavement when clearly it would have been safer and quicker to ride on the road instead of having to negotiate pedestrians. I also hope the little boy/girl who got knocked over by a team support car after the peleton when past is ok as the air ambulance was called.
