My son passed his test when he was 20 and the next day drove down to Birmingham for the week-end to celebrate with friends!

Poor soul ! All that money just to insure a car could be used to buy a really nice bike !!!! Congrats though,i think we forget what a big deal it is to pass but then realise what a waste of money a car can be

Well done. My youngest passed his test at the beginning of August, the bonus for me was that he brought his car, an old Corsa, a month before he took his test, he insured it in my name for that month before he passed and I got the chance to take the Mrs out a few times.

^An old Corsa and that's a bonus, you're very easily pleased

I haven't owned a car since the late 1970's, and that was an elderly three wheeled plastic pig. Most of the driving I have done since has been small commercial vehicles, plus the occasional hire car. The bonus was being able to take the Mrs out without forking out a large sum of money on a hire car or buying coach tickets, all it cost me was the fuel I used.

Congrats on him passing the test !

Anyone see the article about the young bloke who insured a tractor as it was so expensive to insure a car , i know young drivers are statistically the most likely to have an accident but some of the quotes are getting ridiculous. £18,0000 a year for a p reg polo WTF
