What's the problem? Set it upright and drive it.

VW cope with half cars OK.

I was called by the MOD police one morning in work to come and photograph a white transit van that didn't make it off the beach in time as the tide came in. When I arrived I discovered a transit van size whole with the said white van sitting under water with the lights still on. It made a great photo if not rather surreal.

I don't think the holidaymakers were too happy, as I'm sure the hire company weren't

They're doing a massive flood-prevention project at Hampstead Heath ponds at the moment, one part of which involved completely draining about a third of one of the biggest ponds:

Quite impressive.

But wait. What's that in the middle.....?

A Ford Cortina. No-one knows how it got there, how long it's been there, or anything else about it.

Terrible rust. Shoddy cars, Fords...

REUTERS:

After the pollution test rigging fiasco, Volkswagen engineers have found an ingenious solution which cuts vehicle emissions by 50%.

Under questioning by journalists, a senior VW executive was forced to admit that the seating capacity of the vehicles was also reduced by 50%. A fix for that was in the pipeline. When probed further, he revealed that this would be smaller seats which would be bolted closer together. The cars in question would only be sold to very short customers ....

That was my first thought

The guy that runs Kelsey Gardens told me he dragged this out of one of ponds there (I did some open water swimming there). A dive club had apparently been diving to it at one point.

Apparently there were a lot of mussels living in it. A Landie abandoned in a field just looks right somehow.
