The guy that operates it lives in Campbeltown. They leave Campbeltown at 6:30 am, arriving Ballycastle approx 8am. Then leave for Port Ellen at 9:30 (iirc) and arrive there at around 10:30. Then leave Islay at 3pm, arriving Ballycastle at 4. Leave Ballycastle at 4:30, arriving Campbeltown at 6.
It's not that cheap but they operate a good and reliable service that I've used several times. All being well, I might make another trip to Islay later in the year. The only issue is that I see Ballycastle have put pay and display meters in their car parks at the harbour so I will no longer be able to just leave my car their while I go to Islay for a long weekend.

Is that bridge used by particularly dangerous people?
Possibly... But the caging is to protect the auto-start weir machinery.

I dealt with a job on the adjacent road bridge where a dangerous driver hit a cyclist, throwing him clean over the rail and 30 feet to the bank below. Two broken legs and other assorted injuries, the motorist went to jaaiiillll!
The irony is that the guy was only cycling to work because he been banned for drink driving!
A friend of mine was drowned in the undertow of that weir.. Must be 30 years ago, now.. ☹️

No, as Search Manager my skills were better utilised in a warm control van, but I know many members of the two teams that train there.
