My bike in front of the village sign for Malterdingen.

I dread to think what would have happened if the town had a couple more letters in its name...

Was touring last week and got home this week.
Thanks for the St Andrew's info. That makes sense, although that then makes me wonder whether there's a further Scottish connection?
I found the info on the village website but no mention of any other connection to Scotland apart from the Scots Guards band play at their gala day. Hope you enjoyed the tour, I've done Norfolk/Suffolk twice and really enjoyed it.

Saltire is commonly used in heraldry, not necessarily linked to Scotland or Christianity :okay:

Mussbach, is that pronounced ‘moose back’ or ‘moose batch’, as I think the B works to tell you the preceding vowel is a long, not short sound…
Nice pica Andy, and some pleasant detail about the world around you.

Good question: town names can be a bit tricky because they are often pronounced in the local dialect. My money is on "Mussbach" with the last bit sounding like the composer. There was a suggestion to remove the "ß" from German spelling and just use the double S instead but it was dropped.
