RAF Cardington is supposedly the reason that RAF Brize Norton got its name. The obvious choice for the latter is the larger town it is adjacent to - Carterton, but over the radio it was deemed this was too similar to Cardington, so the small Brize Norton village got the nod.

Also, there seems to be some mixup between World Heritage and English Heritage. No matter, the former will yield few results and the latter is already proving fruitful.

Holy cow Pete, that place is huge! I never would have spotted a bike had you not pointed it out!!
Enough room inside for two Zeppelins!
And there's another shed the same size next door to it.
I actually drove past it when they were attempting to fly one, a couple of years ago.
Sadly, it caught a gust of wind and crashed a little bit 😔

Plus, there's lobbying to get another site fairly close to me, added, due to it being presumed to be the worlds first nature reserve

Alongside the boundary wall of Waterton Hall

The wall was built in the 1820s/1830s & ran for 3 miles around the estate, to try & keep poachers out
The alleged cost, back then was £9,000.........

These are 2-17 images, but I last rode through there about a month ago
(it was a bit dryer though!)
