I don't think we have a thread for this. Passed a few of interest in the area I grew up in today.

Royal School House, Raphoe. Originally founded by Royal Charter by James I, this "new" school was build in 1734 and was the school until 1971 when another new school was built, but this is still used as boarders accommodation.

Carnowen National School, built 1912. No longer a school but maintained by the Church and used for events.

I believe the building nearest the road was the school prior to building the new one in 1912, with the other larger house used for the school master.

Nice pics 🤩 And not a bad shout at all this ! I know of a few of these around here. I’ll be ‘on it’ (As long as I remember) next time I’m out 😁

Kilmainhamwood National School. The original dated to 1835, this seems to be a 1937 replacement (with additional bits added over the years).

I'm not sure when this closed, searching online only tells me the council is seeking to sell the building. I know it was open in 2004 (the extension on the left was built then) and still open in 2010 (it was shut during snow) but by 2017 it is closed as there are some various queries online from people wondering about the old building.
