Small dump about an hour drive from Rome, the usual "one street village"

I ended up in Foligno (of all places) last October there, if that's anywhere close?

My spinach is coming up: if the slugs don't get to it again, I will plan a wee trip to dumbarton on my bike, bring you some plants. Need to build up my mileage a wee bit, I'm a kind of "utility cyclist", can't just set out for a ride, need to actually have a destination. Is this weird?

No I understand that too, except that I think of it as being like a train/bus/ferry etc - you arrive at a destination (well, a fixed point anyway) before returning.

I don't have any friends in that area of Italy, I'm merely curious and to see how good my Italian Geography is!

So, an hour from Rome you say? any clue as to the direction?? And don't say 'West', I know that's the sea!

did you take the train to Foligno? Where is Foligno anyway, up north? Did you know Italy has a really good train network?

?? North East of Rome, in Umbria, on the way to Perugia and Anconna, et al. Yes, I took the train from Rome.

I also happened to visit (even more bizarrely) Foggia another day - trains get you to go to strange out of the way places.

So do bikes: was checking out the route to scotstoun rugby stadium from secc the other day, as I'm working there next weekend. All good getting there through Partick, followed cycling path signs on way back, path all potholes and broken glass, this guy on his bike (slower than me) saw me pondering the way, I'm saying to myself, secc, yes, go, the guy says, no, take the other way, is nicer ...... I leave him behind in a cloud of dust, shouting, nooo, this way is quicker, I'm late for worrrrrkkkkkk. Poor man must have thought I'm a little strange.

Ah yes, the cycle track through Scotstoun, Garscadden, etc. Very... erm... scenic!

Incidentally, just continue on the path until you come to Clydebank. Then you have to endure either the horrible loose packed stone cyclepath to Bowling where it becomes tarmacked again, or, you can take Dumbarton Road to Bowling before joining the path again to Dumbarton.

By the way, I have cycled along that bit through Yoker etc in the middle of the night once when it was pitch black. Not for the faint hearted I can tell you!

I go through Glasgow Green after a late shift in the winter: my colleagues think I'm bonkers, but I reckon that if I can't see a thing, neither can the lurkers

Yes, I often cycle without lights on so that my eyes can see a lot more when they are used to the dark. That said, lights can still be useful things if you aren't entirely familiar with your route, and even then, your normal familiar route can change as I discovered once after crashing into a fallen tree. I have been a bit more diligent since then.

Anyway, I find it curious that you don't say where in Italy you are from. Were you banished after commiting some sort of heinous Mature Cheddar Cheese related crime or something?? *

It's ok, I'm not going to tell anyone, and quite frankly, it can't be any worse than Dumbarton!
