Hi all,

I have had a long fascination, indeed love affair with all things cake.
I have a blog, on which I carry out reviews on Tea shops in the south east.
But it would be nice to broaden my area.
Please tell your favourite tea shop or Tea rooms, and I will endevour to get out to it in the future, if I can

The best tea shop in the world, ever. It has a tea menu (it's divided by country for ease of browsing) that's 30 pages long and the Dhasi Chai I had was amazing. You can also buy their stuff online. It's a little like a cross between Hagrid's hut in Harry potter and a charity shop that's been hastily converted into a restaurant inside but that's part of its charm. Very highly recommended.

I have a good friend who works for a tea shop- literally - it sells tea mainly but you can sit at the bar and drink tea there - not an old fashioned tea and cake place but a modern-ish one that supplies Japanese and posh teas without milk.

There used to be this amazing little tea and cake place in Borough, now sadly closed

Any tea rooms or cafe in the UK will be gladly received.
I'm in the Edinburgh area in April, Yorkshire and the Somerset areas in May
I am working my way through the 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs book, so could kill two birds with one stone
Thanks for your replies so far.
Might be tempted to write a cyclists hand book on the subject

My favourite tea shop is normally whichever one's nearest, IYSWIM ;)
But I can certainly recommend Hasketts, just where north st and south st meet in Dorking - certainly not a cheap cuppa (as you might expect), but a very good one - plus the (IIRC) large slabs of cake are reasonably priced, and very nice too

For a bog-standard decent cuppa and eff-off bacon buttie, there's the cafe at Newlands Corner, nearer Guildford - busy, but a lot less so than Rykas nr the bottom of Box Hill, and with a good view over the surrey hills.

The Station Cafe at King's Lynn station in Norfolk make really lovely tea. Proper mugs, tea brewed in the pot- always delicious, especially at the end of a long ride.

Yes the Tea has to come in pots.
We visited a new Italian cafe in Midhurst recently, The tea arrived already in a cup, just not right at all

May I be permitted to recommend without reservation a tea shop in the Isle of Man?

I'm going to anyway, so yah boo to you!

'Tis the tea room in Bride village near Ramsey in the heart of glorious cycling territory. Tremendously cycle friendly tea room with the finest home made scones anywhere always freshly baked that day. And tea is served au pot too!

The one at Goathland.

You can sit outside by the river and there are steam engines nearby (North Yorks Moors Railway).

The North Yorks Moors have some superb tea rooms, almost certainly unsurpassed by any others.
