I'm quite fit after a by-pass. Medics said that riding a bike on and off over the years prior to the MI had created a "back up system" that created a positive environment for a good recovery. Much of the immediate damage to the heart muscle was also remedied by cycling after the event.

I just slapped on a triple chainset and continued riding.

As I say to everyone who visits the bike shop of a mate: 'as long yuh keep getting your leg over, you've nowt to worrry about' :thumbsup: :biggrin:

I've been specifically told to just ignore it if I start getting chest pains/tightness + dizziness. By a doctor in hospital, after hours of tests could only find a slightly atypical rhythm.

In fact, the advice I was given was literally "take painkillers until it stops hurting"
