My interesting fact is that I found out that you can buy a special oil called Bore Oil that you shove into the bore of your bagpipes (or other woodwind instrument) it not prevents cracking and warping but also improves the sound with regular use - I am having trouble with that claim!

So there you are, if you're having trouble with the sound of bagpipes and want to improve the sound you can treat them to some Bore Oil - or shoot the player - either works ^_^

The WO banned pipers from playing in the combat zone, due to high casualties in WW1. Lord Lovat didn’t think this rule applied to him or his piper, Bill Millin, as it was made by the English War Office, consequently he played as the troops landed on D-Day, German snipers later told him that they could have shot him but didn’t as they thought he was mad, although they also left some Frenchmen alone as they could play the accordion, and refused to shoot musicians in the Balkans and even Russia as they considered them a diversion from the madness of war.

Also used in other woodwind instruments that are still made of wood.

It's useless with ebonite or plastic... Or metal though.

A kick from a Zebra's hind legs can kill a Lion.

They aren't just cute stripey horses you know.

Also, they have never evolved to carry people, seeing as, well, there is little call for horse riding in deepest darkest Afrika.

A teaspoon of soil from a healthy forest floor contains more living organisms - bacteria, fungi, protists, nematodes - than there are humans on Earth, and most of the species in that spoonful have never been named or described.
