:music:And then some mellow choons to calm things down a bit?..

I just turn down the volume for my cool down. By that time I'm dripping sweat into my eyes and breathing like a steamtrain so it matters less

I actually map my rides and performance by music.

I'll start off with some fairly pumpy-but-steady music. Big beats, dub, epic trance and the like. Largely because I'm a chav without the dress sense. Something like:

Or an absolute all time fav:

If I get to 50 miles and I'm still on Chemical Brothers or Prodigy, I know it's going to be a good day!

When I'm red-lining, still care about how fast I'm going/climbing and want to eak out that last little bit of energy I'll switch it up into something a bit more up-tempo:

This normally lasts for only a few miles.

When I'm in desperation mode, need to make it over the next climb just to stand a chance of getting home, I'll look to keep a beat but flick to something 'softer'. I find 80's disco-pop is ideal for this:

This lasts for as long as I can bare it (both the pain and the music).

When I've popped completely, reached the **** it point and I'm basically granny-gear free wheeling it home, literally any easy listening goes. If I'm feeling mentally fresh but physically knackered, I might take some uplifting "beat-the-world" chart pop. Like Katy Perry. Or

If I'm done both ways, its the Righteous Brothers or Vivaldi. The latter especially tells me I've over-cooked it and am slightly delirious.

I like to finish a ride on stage two; physically drained but actually energised from the ride. If I get to stage four - arriving home listening to Miley Cyrus - I know that I've either been a) overly ambitious or b) a fat, lazy barsteward recently.

I am just getting back into swimming and as I stopped because it was so boring (sensory depravation thing) I have just got a waterproof Walkman thing (all in headphones with no wires).

I could do with something that would be in time with swimming. So far I have tried some early Jamaican Ska stuff that fits quite well. Any ideas for swimming? It needs to be upbeat and steady rather than thrashing.
