It was TOO obvious, and who in their right mind would admit to having heard enough of their music (a few seconds would suffice) to make a judgement.

I like the Darkness, even been to a couple of their gigs at the M.E.N.

Proper classic rock (not metal) & they put on a really good show too.

That Christmas song is dire though.

Can't say i like The Darkness but i did see them headlining T in the Park many moons ago (Bowie had a heart attack and pulled out so the East Anglians stepped in)... and yes, they put on a good show.

Yes, Paul DiAnno. Having said that, on Iron Maiden & Killers the best tracks are the instrumentals imo. Also, Blaze who? Number of the Beast is a classic album so credit to Bruce for that. Powerslave & Seventh Son are also good but the rest are meh.

first 7 ( 8 if you include live after death) albums were the best.

hard to call it between DiAnno and dickinson having heard Bruce cover some of the early stuff. however the " dickinson Trill" as Kerrang so quantly put it in their " guide to singing metal" in 1990 can be a bit meh at times.

would like to have heard IM "Mk1" ( DiAnno , Murray, Stratton , Burr, Harris) play some of the later stuff from the definitive line up( BD, CM, Adrian Smith, SH, Nicko Mcbrain) as a comparison .
i had one of the Soundhouse tapes EPs too. I swapped it for something ( so good i cant remember but I think it was bike related !) in the mid 80s
