What a glorious day ;)
Steady 30 odd miler....no pushing along, just a nice jaunt to enjoy the sun and scenery (such as it is bordering the fens).

30.16 miles for me today in 1 hr 36 so average of 18.66, was average 19.1 or something until the last hill of the day, which I was knackered for and so it turned into a 5mph slog hence the big drop in average. My average also would have been quicker if I hadn't have got lost out near Ullenhall, but life will go on.

I am doing the same route tomorrow, but earler so it will be cooler, and so hopefully i can better my time.

Glorious day wasn't it! 78 miles, ave 16.7 m.p.h. Starting from chez Lard, then onto Fairweather's where 515mm joined us to go down to Carmarthen and back via some very nice scenery. Unfortunately forgot to put the camera in the back pocket again!!!! ;)

Had to wait until Mrs A had finished work before we went out. When we did, we had a cracking 25 miler around the wolds. Apart from one stretch of main road, very little traffic, and lack of wind (in relation to the last few days) was most welcome.

One thing though was that on the main road stretch, we were passed far too closely by clowns encased in metal. Now Lincolnshire drivers in general are not the best, but the Bank Holiday seems to have brought out the worst in them. I very nearly had my elbow smacked by a door mirror on a perfectly straight bit of wide A road when there was no on-coming traffic. What's that all about? I am normally fairly laid back about such occurences, but as this was the third close pass within a couple of miles, I yelled something along the lines of "I say old chap, do you think you could allow a little more room next time?", only to be met by the usual open-window salute.

Ah well, such are the joys of our wonderful pastime.

I posted about my ride earlier but I've just down loaded the pics of my banana stop in Dollar. By chance when I stopped I noticed something in the burn.

The photos don't do it justice as they were only taken with my 2mb camera phone.

Brilliant ride down through Carrick over the Nick o Balloch and cafe stop at the caf at Glen Trool trailhead. Then back northwards with a tailwind, over the climb on the Shalloch on Minnoch side of the Carrick forest. What a mental descent - 40mph for about 5 miles!

Did a nice 72mile ride. Left my gaff in Hayle down to St Ives-St Just-Sennen-Lands End-Mousehole-Newlyn-Penzance-Hayle-Portreath-Redruth-Cambourne-Hayle.

Met a fellow solo rider who was doing the same route, so I had a riding buddy for 60miles of the 72.

Also got a ferocious tan line(s) to boot!!

Nice photo of the heron HLaB.

Well I set off to join the Manchester Wheelers intro ride, that was 68 miles all in all, the last 15 or so just me and this other guy, where hammering it along at some points, went back to his house, I emptied my bowels, had some coke, mars bars and drawn a route for my GPS in bikehike, was going to be 45, ended up being 60, so I've done 128 miles today averaging around 17mph and over 5000ft of climbing, not bad I think considering I have not ridden these distances for months.

My arms and legs are as red as a tomato though!

a gentle pootle down to Virginia Water with the Babe. Stop for coffee on the south side of Hampton Bridge at about quarter past eight - we've never got there too early for them - and watch the London Dynamo who all arrive cycling on the pavement (why am I not surprised) before setting off down the Lower Sunbury road.

Hundreds of triathletes of all shapes and sizes, from Cervelo-borne musclemen to young women on shoppers fitted with tri-bars. Marshalls every couple of miles directing traffic and clapping the riders. It all looked like fun - if running or swimming could ever be fun.

Arrived at Virginia Water just as the rain started. Fast train home, and then well-earned bacon sandwiches.

10 miles on the turbo, yes not much to brag about, however not rode for 13 days and 11 days since my operation (shoulder) - 4 & 1/2 weeks to go & I'll be allowed outside!

Exactly 50k but involving 1400 metres climbing (and I haven't gone down to a compact yet - trying to build my legs up before the Maratona in July) but that's 212k in the last three days. Which is nice.
