well, after a cr*p week of no riding due to a very nasty fall while (horse) riding I felt ok enough to go for a spin today-glorious weather and I ended up doing 28 miles along little country lanes, quite a lot up hill.Took me ages as Im meant to be taking things easy:biggrin:but really enjoyed it and feel better for doing it.
Back in work tomorrow tho:sad:and hopefully ill go by bike not car-ill see how sore i am in the morning:biggrin:

Brilliant ride down through Carrick over the Nick o Balloch and cafe stop at the caf at Glen Trool trailhead. Then back northwards with a tailwind, over the climb on the Shalloch on Minnoch side of the Carrick forest. What a mental descent - 40mph for about 5 miles!

That was a good distance. About 100 miles?

Managed 21 miles in 1.5 hrs today around Biggin Hill with some hills and flats, being constantly chased by a thunder storm ! . Was a little wet and windy at times and very close but used a lightweight Montange waterproof for the first time which was fantastic and would highly recommend. Got home only for it to get sunny again. Still feel tired but really want to do more miles but just cant get the time !. Have a good week all

Just a Oneway Commute. I went for a drink on Friday so I left the commuter in the office and had to take the bus this morning. I missed it so I really enjoyed getting back on it for the short commute (less than 4 miles) and managed to do 16.2 mph into the wind despite being stopped at every light, the traffic and it being a wide tyred (37mm heavy hybrid).

I beep beeped my way around Richmond Park for a few laps (clockwise for afficionados) then ducked out of the Ham gate and eventually followed the Thames for a while, played with Garmin and generally let the afternoon unravel in front of me...people watching mostly. No chavs, no impatience and a steady 26kph.

it was all a bit wet this morning, so no escort duty for me (other than the walk to the bus stop) so I sat around prompting Metcheck who came up with the goods at about eleven. So, off to the Junction, train to Horsham, a bit of faffing around in the town centre, then southwards, and a bit east, to Christ's Hospital, Barns Green, Coolham and Storrington. The minor road turned in to the B2139, which, other than the knobbly tarmac, was very pleasant, going up and down gently for most of the way with a couple of little stand on the pedals bits just before Storrington.

The road then turned west, into the wind, and I struggled to get a rhythm going through Amberley, and then to Houghton, where I arrived at...

the Sussex equivalent of the Darien Gap. There are no paved roads from Amberley to Arundel, but the map does show footpaths and one connection via an unmade road. I thought I'd try the riverside path from Houghton to South Stoke, but this was, for the most part, unrideable. So, having taken almost an hour to wander up and down slopes and through puddles and around tree routes I tried the shorter path back to Amberley, over the new bridge - but beyond this the two smaller bridges were closed for repair.

So, from South Stoke to Arundel, past zillions of 4x4s bearing people to the Arun for 'watersports' and train home, with one more route (the one recommended) to try out, and happier for having seen a little slice of Sussex that, hitherto, I'd not travelled.

Drafted a bus this morning for almost my entire ride
Ive come across it before, you occasionally come across a driver who i swear waits at all the stops for you to be just the right distance to pick up a draft.
Awesome...i wish'd i'd got my computer on. Must have been my fastest commute in a long time.

How many miles? How long did it take?
