After a crappy start to the day - narrowly avoiding being wiped out by an old codger who accelerated instead of braking at a T junction which i was crossing, had my most enjoyable solo ride this year. Great ride back from Livingston, quiet roads most of the way, tail wind, felt like i was flying.

Good extended commute tonight, mixing it with the rush hour traffic
I swear, i overtook some cars that never did catch me up several miles later .
Swept round a R/A to go back where i just came from (just for fun) and some plank in a dribble bus just entered the R/A ( i was already on, and had right of way) without the slightest look. Thankfully he was only going slow...i said 'nice one buddy ' through his open window as i passed him. Completely oblivious to me he was
Saw the usual planks that try to close down the cycle lane as they see you coming behind...no problem...overtake them on the offside. Gives me the greatest pleasure.
Good fun commute

Reported a bus driver this morning after he harrased 515mm, Tall Paul and myself through the town centre on the ride in to work this a.m. It was not only dangerous but very, very, irritating and unecessary.

A good ride with the club only 43.7miles but at a good pace 19.5mph for the first 37miles with the warm down/ city traffic trip to the pub that fell to 18.9 mph. We dodged the weather and I can only remember two idiots one a bit impatient and sounding his horn a bit to go nowhere and one opening his door quickly despite facing our direction. The First Bus on the way back waited patiently that 2 secs before pulling into a bus stop ;) another plus point it was good to see gavintc back on his bike

35 kilometres along the Leeds-Liverpool canal into a headwind the whole way. It was tough and frustrating going but not as tough as for the couple I met who'd set of at 4.38 this morning to do the entire route in a one-er!!! I met them at a gate on a really bad, muddy section where their support team were waiting for them and was very impressed with their efforts thus far (they'd done over 70 miles and still had 40-odd to go). They were not happy they were cycling into the wind, as I was, and that it was this weekend and not the glorious one we had last week. Still, as I said, at least it kept the canal bank free of people as it was so wet and windy, there was hardly a soul about.

73 miles for me and I got DRENCHED. Absolutely horrible climbing up to cat and fiddle with that rain and wind. Felt pretty hardcore though;)
The tail wind home I'd been looking forward to all the way out amounted to nothing:wacko:

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
took a ride down along coast to the marina...hit th ebeach for a while,,,then set off on longer ride...got a can of fizzy drink thrown at me by a white van driver ..hit my right arm...total ****wits ...but the rest of th eride was ok.

Well I set off around 11am from Manchester city center to Leyland to paul hewitts cycles for a bike fit, near Preston, was heavy rain when I set off and totally pouring, windy too, absolutely awful, bike got well dirty, cleaned it for tomoz when it'll get dirt again, I don't know if it was the wind that killed me on the way back but it was a nightmare, going down near Belmont I did not even manage to get any sort of decent speed.

Finally got round to putting the last touches to my fixie - front brake back on, adjusted the saddle, time for a runaround.

Gently at first, just up and down the road, taking it easy...then off to the park, where there's a big open tarmac space...just getting a feel for, well, the feel. Feels good! Trying to get a bit of rear wheel skidding going...had a bit of success, but then the sprocket came free.

Went home and took it off, cleaned every last scrap of grease off the hub & sprocket, reassembled and back for another go. Came loose again after a bit...have to have a think about that. Araldite perhaps...

Overall tho, great stuff! Really enjoyed it. Not super-fast, but fast and near-effortless...and silent. Looking forward to more...

I rode all of a few hundred yards (with scoosh) and back to the start of an audax, just to make sure my legs knew what to do on a bike and to make sure the wheels still went round and round.

My report tomorrow may be of the longest ride for 2 months....which will not be difficult to beat! ;)

Went to work yesterday morning and all was well. Came back again at 1200 hours without having eaten anything since 0530 hrs in the morning. The temperature was also about 34 deg C, the last 5 Kms were a slog as the very early stages leading up to a bonk were starting to show. Was I glad to get home and into some Aircon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

35 miles from Leeds to Ilkley and back again - solo as the husband had 'a sore knee'. Loved it, haven't had a decent ride for about four weeks due to weekend commitments. Weather blustery, cold and threatening but still gorgeous scenery, good mix of hills and flats and a v nice chocolate muffin huddled in a bus shelter in Ilkley half way round. Feeling a bit like a druggie after a 'fix' (I'd imagine) as I was hankering to go out on my bike again.
