75 kilometres with 1400m of climbing including the Nick o'Pendle in, at times, gale-force winds. Bloody June and I had a Helly Hansen, long-fingered gloves, a hat, tights and hot oil to keep me warm. The contrast with last Sunday was incredible.

6 mile round trip to buy some milk.

Was in the queue at the till and a bloke asked how far I'd ridden. I told him and he was shocked I would ride that far for some milk, as he'd just driven about 400 metres through the village to buy some cigarettes!!!!

Just done 90 km to Ulm and came back by train. Amazingly I had a tail wind all the way and manage to avoid the rain!!! How often does that happen?

I saw one odd thing though: at least a dozen kites (the birds not the things on the end of string) in a group on the boundary of a wood and meadow. Given that they are supposed to be carrion eaters I think that somebody has been murdered and left on the edge of the wood. Obviously I didn't go and look in an attempt to prove this theory as it would have brought my average speed down.

65 miles, pretty hard even though only averaged 20mph, it was a chain gang, there was abit of a breakaway apparently and I was in the front group but it was like 30mph on the flat sometimes!

One of the guys there is only 16 and yesterday he did under 20min for a 10, averaged just over 30mph ;)

I'm hooked on chain gangs now and going to start doing them regular!, might consider racing next year although want to be allot faster before I race.

Last week I did 247 miles, not bad considering I ride less frequently

I must of cheesed off the Karma gods  I took my better bike out with the intention of making a few minor mods if necessary on a 100 miler. After 10 miles, I decided to raise the saddle by a couple of mm. Unfortunately when I tightened the bolt, it snapped  Some nice West Lothian roadies stopped but unfortunately there wasn't much any body could do, it was nice of them to try though. The 10 miles back into a headwind, standing up all the way wasn't that pleasant. At least I have another bike though and went out for 45miles on that, I was pretty drained though so it'd been slow.

Alex Royle? It was 20:14, fastest ride by a juvenile or junior for several years. Still a great time and he will clearly go far.

A very enjoyable 100km audax ride, accompanied (amongst others) by scoosh and satan's budgie (on his first ever audax and 100km )

Great to be back on the bike.

A 100km DIY/Mesh Permanent Audax in North Yorkshire. The sun was out but there was a fair amount of wind. Nevertheless it was my second ever sub five hour rides and 25 minutes faster than a ride over the identical route four months ago.

24 miles at a steady pace...can't be bothered to push it
No other riders out this afternnon, and it rained quite steady this morning, so maybe everyone gave it a miss today...i dont think
4 Redshank on a reserve near Peterborough...must start taking my binos.
Weather meant taking the winter bike, mudguards an all. Bloomin filthy when i got back...take it to work tomorrow and clean / service it methinks. Chain looks awful after almost cyclocrossing it today through woodland tracks, over fields, and along hardcore country park pathways....what kind of way is that to treat a bike

I went round the XC course at Innerleithen yesterday. On the way up I saw a Jay, first time I'd seen one. This pic is at the top of the climb...

Did the Tour Of Pembroke 65 mile route. The weather was not very good this morning, rain and very blustery. So it was with great surprise that Fairweather actually got kitted up and joined 515mm, Tall Paul and yours truly!

We eventually got started a little after 8.30, and immediately started the first climb of the day. There were quite a few to fit in by the end, none that were in the same league as the Forest Of Dean ride we did a few weeks ago, but they were plentiful.

The wind seemed to be changing direction with every 5 minutes. And as we were using quite a few back roads with high hedges, the gaps where there was a large gate or no hedge caused you to suddenly get blown sideways. Very disconcerting when you are descending at any sort of speed. The rain was beginning to ease off, but the odd heavy shower would suddenly hit us much to Fairweather's annoyance.

The drop down into Newgale and over to Broadhaven was a highlight and for the first time Fairweather actually managed to get round the downhill lefthander into Broadhaven without some sort of self induced incident. Chapeau indeed!

We watered briefly in Newgale but one of our number was struggling with the pace. So apologies to T.P. for leaving him to recover longer while the three of us set off once more.

The rain had stopped for a while now but as we headed into Pembroke the heavens emptied, and made life a bit more difficult for the riders. It went very dark, dark enough to turn on your lights if you were canny enough to have them fitted.

We made quite good time to Pembroke and the crossing of the Cleddau was quite spectacular. Especially with the wind. 515mm did a sterling job keeping the pace up in the circumstances.

We pulled into the last feed station for a banana and a visit to the "ty bach" and with 20 miles to go we upped the pace once more. Those last miles flew by, even with the threat of cramp, and traffic, the climb out of Tenby was done in no time. The small 12%'er towards the finish was hardly noticed as we rode purposefully on. And before you knew it we were across the line and that was when the sun decided to come out!

Royle breaks juvenile 10 record

Stockport-based youngster Alex Royle rode his way into the history books in East Yorkshire on Saturday when he broke the juvenile 10-mile competition record in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation event at South Cave.

Royle, the 15-year-old Coveryourcar.co.uk rider, sliced 17 seconds off the previous record, which was set by Ceri Pritchard in the year Royle was born, 1993.

he won the event with 19.56.

I still smoked him up winnats a couple of months ago

Second proper ride on the fixie today, despite aching thighs. Down to the park and through, up the path to the woods, then walk thru' the woods, then back down the woodland walk.

Really enjoyable ride...starting to get the feel for the whole fixie experience...the sudden panics have pretty much gone now. No longer spooked by the constantly turning pedals, adjusting to the idea that 'it'll come around again soon' rather than getting thrown by failing to get cleat engaged.

Also starting to do things more calculatedly, and gradually, adjusting to the idea that if you anticipate, and do things gradually, you don't have to brake suddenly, but can just calmly cruise along, making slight adjustments now and then.

I think I'm going to give it another couple of weekends before I start trying to use it for the daily commute - not least 'cos my thighs are killing me!

Overall tho', really enjoying it.
