Normal 13 mile trek for me yesterday while getting use to the clipless pedals, of which around half are upgrade and include a few nasty steep bits, topped the longest one which is at the 12 mile mark without changing gear for the first time I think (smallest front chainring, and fourth gear on the rear, ie three to fall back on if needed). Felt even better tonight when I saw a bike light going very slowly up it and then realised it was being walked up the hill.
My knee didn't like it so I won't be doing that again until maybe next summer!
I've seen a few reports of hurt knees recently (plus I pulled mine).
. A few miles later, on a country lane wide enough for a bike and a car to pass one another comfortably, someone coming the opposite direction pulled over and waited for me, as did someone else soon after. Both responded to my grin and wave of thanks with smiles of their own.
...right!!
