Your ride today.... (part 1)

Ahh, the bleach works. Over the tops from Turton to the A66 is one of my favourite pieces of tarmac. Beautiful up there.

There's that bast of a climb a couple of miles past the bleach works (from Belmont end) where there's a short steep downhill, then a hairpin and he road ramps up for 200-300 ft at 10% or so, so hard because it's really difficult to get the gearing right.

I know three posts in three days, I can't help getting out

A change in direction of wind this morning so I decided to head into it...
A drop down to join Route 75 which I followed until it headed through the back streets of Greenock until I arrived at the town harbour where I followed the cycle path along into Gourock where I thought off nipping on the Dunoon ferry but it was choppy ( these ferries has a poor history in wind)..

It was onward along the main road as cycle track/path was busy until I took a break at Lunderston bay where the hills of Arran were showing with a good covering of snow.
It was on to the Inverkip fork where I headed up the short distance to the Cornalees cut off....

A steady climb until the junction of the Loch Thom/Inverkip rds, more water taken on and off I headed upwards..
I was in the granny gear by the Visitor Centre but this was my first nonstop ascent..
You'd have thought I'd won any of the Tours..

A quick coffee at Ardgowan Fishery then round Loch Thom and a quick run over Garshangan forestry track and now it was almost downhill all the way until I joined route 75 for 3/4 of a mile when I left and headed home for a welcome . 26 and 1/2 ml...delighted.

just a short spin with my g/f ... thewas out when we left but we soon were trying to dodge the hail

don't think she was impressed .. (weather wise) but she still enjoyed when the sun came back out . cut it short as her feet were like blocks of wood but still we got 20 miles in http://connect.garmin.com/activity/466220176

Yeh Deffo I've already done it and super glued snag in the tyre, still got the hump tho..
I'll be ready to battle again next week...

Lovely 60km ride on the new CX over to Olympic Park.

I want via the parkland Walk (ex train line) then via the Lea Valley Navigation which was bliss all the way down to bow.

The ride back via the Regents Canal was shite. Bikes should be banned as it is not wide enough plus way too many idiotic cyclists especially at the sections under the very low/narrow bridges. Almost went for a swim because of one near miss and failed unclip!!

Rednal in Birmingham the destination, 45 miles the journey, should have been 30 miles but I had to go back to the house for something I forgot, I brought a car yesterday morning and was told it would be ready next week, but I got a phone call last night to say it was ready so this morning it was on the fixed and off to pick it up, not the nicest ride I've done, out through Balsal Common and Earlswood and on to pick up the A441 for the run in to the garage, most of it ridden into the teeth of a stiff cold head wind at a very slow pace, hard graft for most of the way accompanied by intermittent heavy showers, though the blast back home down the motorway was fun, the cars impressive, I just need the radio code to get the radio working.

Edit, the radio just needed the contacts cleaning, its working now and the sound is impressive.

your first car?
congrats on the purchase! being a petrol head myself my year and make/model is it and from that i can workout engine size and mk whatever and roughly how much you paid for it or at least how much you should have done!

Poor ride today.Rain, hail, wind and occasional sunshine. Cold. Really struggled and my mate who normally struggles to keep up with me, dropped me

Back home, tired and fed up. Rare for me not to enjoy a ride. A rest day tomorrow I think.

41 miles. 12.1mph. 1 puncture.

Visual migraine straight after the ride. Lost the sight in one eye for a short while. Probably explains the rather poor ride. Back to normal now (I hope). Rest day tomorrow.
