Economy! I can remember using texturised vegetable protein, and a small amount of mince. Then the recession came.

We tried TVP a few times. The dog used to be able to wolf the food down, yet leave out a clean bowl with all the individual pieces of TVP in it - she could do the same with red kidney beans or mushrooms.

My son could do something similar with muesli. He appeared to eat everything then at the end would spit out all of the raisins.
