What about the a Spesh Allez? or the new Secteur that is based on the Roubaix frame, Ianrauk has one the lucky sod, can get the well kitted out 'Elite' versions for under 1k.
Having said that, The Trek is a great bike and the Cannondale CAAD 9 is very sexy... both were close runners up when chosing mine.
