Oxenber woods near Austwick, Yorkshire Dales. Amazing carpets of bluebells, cowslip, primrose, wood anemone and early purple orchid. Views across to Penyghent and Norber.

Near 5 mile Sunday kick-starter for us…🐶

Was spitting when we walked out the door. And started spitting when the front door came back into view at the end ! But the important middle bit was dry; if a little fresh on the Beach.

Took a few new paths. Found and saw a couple of new spots. All good here 😁

Up before the lark yesterday morning to head off to the Peak District for a hike I'd planned..

I did take a torch with me for the first ½hr but it was light enough to see without switching it on..

First climb was to Ramshaw Rocks. I've not walked this area before so enjoyed the new paths & views..

The sunrise from the top made it worthwhile getting up at 02:00 & drive the 100 miles 😂
After descending to the valley, the next climb was Hen Cloud.

The path goes right to the pointy bit at the top!

Down, yet again, and ready for to head up to The Roaches.
I missed a turn and ended up under the Edge but my trusty OS map showed another way to to top after ¼ mile so I didn't have to retrace my route.

The couple of miles along The Roaches was the last of the high area before dropping down towards the valley back to the car..
I did miss out the couple of miles to Ludd's Church as my knee was feeling dodgy & didn't want to risk knackering it.

Thata way to the car 👉

Finished the day on just over 8 miles though, with the climbing, it felt further!

A tad over 4 miles before it gets too warm for Bonnie..
Local circuit round a quiet nature reserve & a busier Kingsthorpe Moor.
Back home with a thirsty dog who is now chilling in the shade in the garden. I think I'll make myself a coffee & join her 👍
