Slightly pedantic but the steamroller actually makes any surface roll like a road tyre on tarmac - meaning that as well as making dirt roads smooth for those on road and gravel/mtb it also even makes tarmac roads a bit quicker for anyone on a gravel or mtb.

As Aleman says it's almost overpowered - partcularly as it lasts for 30 seconds and makes a huge difference particularly when used on the dirt roads

@<Tommy> Steam roller, changes the CRR- coefficient of rolling resistance. @Aleman put it more succinctly. Makes cobbles like tarmac ^_^:okay:

Im see-ing small improvements in fitness. I did a loop of Knickerbocker today. Up the glass climb(whatever its called) I held a nice high cadence and was able to hold early 300 Watts on the first steep section without HR going into red zone and mid 300Watts for the last steep section. Oddly its my fastest ever loop, I didnt realise I done so little riding on this circuit, maybe its a reverse of what I've done

I reflected a bit on last night and I think I’m being a bit lazy with the way I prepare for races. I don’t think my decision to ride the Tron was a bad one with the info we had. But I didn’t make any provision for changing bikes, didn’t practice changing bikes, I didn’t even buy a gravel bike… one guy was one place ahead of me going into the final climb on a Tron. He changed to gravel, and then overtook me again to place one ahead of me. So not really an advantage. But anyone who started on gravel or changed before the first climb would of had a distinct advantage in the end. The pace just wasn’t quick enough on the flat to give the Tron any edge and I really should of given myself the opportunity to adapt in the race.

Really generally I’m being a bit lazy. I only knew the sprint was after 5km because I bumped into Joffey warming up and asked him… I didn’t look at the course at all. If I had of I would of realised the finish was at the top of the climb (I assumed it was at the bottom of the descent so that caught me by surprise abs maybe cost me some places). Or that there was actually a bit of a lead in to the climb after the sprint which allowed some recovery. My HRM died halfway around because I hadn’t charged it… On top of that to be honest I don’t even know what some of the power ups do!… does that steam roller flatten the gradient, make the road smooth, or do both for example

This waffle is mainly for my benefit, as a way of cataloging some of the things I need to work on. But maybe other people are guilty of the same (?).

Shame there’s such a big gap to the next season. Hopefully we can race together at least once a week in the interim. And then next season we should all be in better shape and in better routine from the get go.

I wonder if there are any series starting next week that we can all join? You spotted any @steverob?

Looking at potential race series to fill the void until next ZRL season I came across this one - it's a team (6 rider) event with finish line points but also has GC placings. Mondays at 19:15 CET so 18:15 UK time (I think!).

When they say it's a team of 6, does that mean you can enter with, say, 8 people and they will take the top 6 results or is it a hard limit?

This is all part of your ongoing campaign to get @Whorty upgraded to Cat B isn't it? ;)

Not sure but its not a closed event with private sign-on links like the ZRL so I would guess that they'll just take the top 6 finishing riders who are assigned to a particular team on Zwiftpower - not sure how else they could do it?

Also I suppose if you only have 3 riders you'll just not score points but you can race all the same?

Any chance someone could find out? I would love to take part but don't want to take anyone else spot or spoil the Team effort by coming in last

Yeah I'm really not sure how the team thing works - it's not like WTRL with pages and pages of rules etc. I think we'll just have to do it and see. I suspect they'll just add up the points of up to 6 riders of the same team for a team standings section on ZP

Can always have two teams if necessary....I'm assuming it won't be anywhere near on the scale of wtrl. Timing won't suit everyone but I'll try to make it if we get a team together
