I just came 8th on zp (13th on the road) in one of those ‘is it a race, isn’t it a race?’ Mass start events on zwift out of about 650 starters. More importantly I thought the course was ideal for a race in the future. The temples and towers course on the new map.

Ps whatever @bridgy says it definitely was a race!
Funny that, I took part in the 4pm event but I definitely wasn’t racing. It’s a great course in fairness. I swapped onto the Scott MTB for the gravel climb and gained a good 75 places before messing up the bike swap back onto the TRon. Certainly a good circuit for a CC event

What about the start though? shouldn’t of Hamilton had to of given up track position after cutting the corner? Could you argue that either way?

I mean Hamilton must feel completely sick the way it turned out. But can you imagine if they had if let it finish under a safety car? Crazy result but maybe it needed a crazy finish? Dunno…

I dislike redbull somewhat. They have a desperation about the way they carry themselves. But it was unbelievable tv!

Yes, I agree about lap 1

I enjoyed it and glad that Max won in the end.

Well, all I'm going to say is I couldn't initially see the event on the companion app because I had only "race" selected in the filter......:cuppa:

I think that’s the only mark against it for me because Im not a big fan of the idea of changing bikes. I really like the climb though. The way it goes up and then up again. Reminds me a bit of the epic kom

I'm still going back and fourth with it now to be honest. I’m not the most knowledgable on F1 by any means. I feel like in my gut the stewards made the call because they wanted to see it go to big finale. But was it ‘fair’, or even by the book?
I guess what kind of sticks in the throat is that this year the stewards seems to make a decision, get put under pressure by a team principle, and then back pedal. Maybe that’s a big problem in the current system?

Yeah, it seems that way. It would have been sad to see it finish under the safety car but maybe it would have been fairer. But it is what it is and the appeals have bee rejected. It was a bloody exciting lap! ^_^

Sporting regs 38.1 ( I think ), The lapped cars may be released to unlap themselves. When ALL lapped cars have passed the safety car the safety car comes in the lap following. So by the FIA's own regulations it should have finished under the safety car ... Like at Spa, but then Max was in front that time!!

Race director has brought the sport into disrepute IMO! Would never have happened with Charlie in the hot seat!

You have to wonder if there was a "money" conversation between DM and the Williams team in the later laps ???

Championship would have been sewn up long ago if it hadn't been for Max's unfortunate blowout in Baku, Hamilton chopping him off in Silverstone, or Bottas' demolition derby in Hungary. TBF it was the first bit of really poor fortune that Hamilton has had all year.

Re F1 ... not watched it or been interested for 30 odd years, but was bored yesterday and did sit through it to the end. No idea on the rules, although looking at what @Aleman has quoted, and others too, it does seem that reg 38.1 was only partially applied to force a 'race'. Which may have 'fairer' if they were both on old tyres, but given MV had new tyres it was only going to go one way.

LH was 10 seconds ahead when the crash happened; I can't understand why the same time gaps were not enforced .. wouldn't that be fair? Same happened earlier in the race when the safety car came in, MV gained 6 or 7 seconds on LH.

I was 100% a neutral yesterday, but seems to me the powers that be didn't want Hamilton to win. Seemed very political and probably be another 30 years until I watch again.

When I watched last weeks race I thought the opposite - they didn't want Verstappen to win. It's been an odd couple of races but it did make for a dramatic conclusion.

And I suppose as we are all talking about it shows that whatever happened (fair or unfair) F1 will probably get new fans out of it.

A "race" in F1 is supposed to be 200miles or 2 hours whichever is the shorter, not one lap ... Or two as in Spa otherwise just may have had the championship decided on fastest pole lap!

Complete and utter travesty, and I say that as a Maclaren / Williams fan, my only real interest in Lewis is as an ex Maclaren Driver. FWIW I dislike Horner with a passion, so anything that goes wrong for Red Bull by association is a good thing :laugh::laugh: I feel the same way about Ferrari ... but that's because they are Ferrari :rofl::rofl:
