So the Matchmaking race was...
...fairly evenly matched
Crit City Dolphin. 8 laps. 10 Starters in the Orange race.
The lowest rated rider dropped on lap 3. Everyone else stayed together until about the last 1km. It was fairly hard work, I was pushing 219W for 20 minutes. Then at the end, the 90kg sprinter guy went early at about 900m and stayed off, then it started to split up. I got b@stard XP on the final powerup arch, so had no super-power for the finish. But managed 6th on natural charm and good-looks.
The winner was 1s clear, but the next 5 were in the next second. It felt pretty evenly matched. Quite hard going for me as flat and fast, but wasn't too much to hold on. Beat 3 silvers and 1 gold. Lost to 4 silvers and 1 gold, so a small ranking loss

I think the system did quite a good job of matching riders of similar ability.
I was in the race with you, As you say, very evenly matched.
I screwed up the finish. Sat back and waited a little longer than I should have done before the final kicker. By the time I realised I was gapped enough that I knew it was pointless trying to get back on, so rolled in behind another guy who was dropped.
I think I’ve spent so long hanging around in the back half of B cat races that I completely forgot what to do when you’re at the front of a race. 🤦🏻♂️

). I fought to stay on as long as I could and eventually got spat out at Aqueduc. Then I let two guys catch me and we made up a merry little bunch until about 1.2km from the end when we started testing each other. Eased off at 500m, got behind the other two and deployed my Ghost at 400m, then sprinty sprinty get a gap before they notice and just keep giving everything that's left. First time I've done that. Worked a treat
