It already takes me almost two hours to get home as it is!

For a laugh I thought I'd get Strava's route planner to suggest my best route home by bike. It said 46 miles, but that involves about 7-8 miles pretty much straight up the A5 (no thanks, too much traffic, too many traffic lights) and then directly over the highest point in the Chiltern Hills. A decent route whilst avoiding the worst of central London but at the same time not giving me masses of climbing would probably be over 50 miles - a century a day commute anyone?

Have you thought of part way commute by bike choosing the nicer parts to cycle

I have to wait until I get home to watch the highlights.

It wasn't too difficult to avoid spoilers in the past (even as little as 5 years ago it was quite easy), but so many people are now "into cycling" that I have to pretty much avoid all media from about 3pm onwards if I don't want to know the result. The amount of times I've accidentally clicked on a normal news website and found TdF results within their first few headlines, or stumbled across someone on Twitter talking about the stage - and usually not an actual cycling person but someone who until that point I had no idea followed the sport - so it means I've got to be super careful, especially on the train journey home.

Yeah it's a nightmare isn't it! I couldn't wait till 7 so have just watched the gcn extended highlights. Well worth a watch

great to see vingegaard attack, amazing amount of action already for the first week and a big day tomorrow. UAE should never have let hindley go, ended up using all their domestiques in a desperate change then isolating pogacar. That's made me want to jump on the climb portal again!

I have tried doing the final section from my London terminus station to the office (which I would usually do by tube) on both a hired Brompton and a Santander bike, but I didn't save very much time and in fact if anything I lost time because I when I got to work I had to change and put on more deodorant cause I got so sweaty.

If I cycled from home to my local station, that would save me 15 minutes each way but I am not leaving my bike locked up there for 11 hours a day - that area is an absolute thief magnet.

Haha does seem like a bit of a faff though but if you are after a certain level for a bike makes sense!
I did notice on the climb portal that I got 250xp at least twice, I literally can't remember noticing getting it before

I think they did it on the first Glasgow Crit race as well (ISTR from @steverob video that he got 250 at every banner).
I expect it's their way of getting people to try new things. I was stupid when I tried the climb portal and forgot to deploy my powerup, missing about 5 banners
